Maine Wood Concepts, a full-service custom manufacturer of wooden components and products based in New Vineyard, is the maker of this year's official White House Easter eggs. The colored wooden Easter eggs will be given as gifts to children attending the annual White House Easter Egg Roll on April 22.

Maine Wood Concepts, a wood-turning company based in New Vineyard that makes toys, cookware and other products, has been chosen to make the official 2019 White House Easter eggs.

The announcement by the White House Historical Association notes that the limited-edition wooden eggs will be given as gifts to children attending the annual White House Easter Egg Roll on April 22.

The official 2019 White House Easter Egg set comes in five colors and includes the President and First Lady's stamped signatures on the back. Four eggs feature the South Portico and are available in rose, blue, green, and red. The fifth egg is gold and features the Presidential Seal.

The eggs will be sold to the public, while supplies last. Individual colored eggs sell for $8.50, the gold egg for $14.95 and the set of five for $34.95.

Maine Wood Concepts has made the collectable eggs multiple times over the last two decades. The white birch logs used to make the eggs are harvested locally from FSC-certified forests and then processed at Maine Wood Concepts’ sawmill.

Once the wood has been properly prepared, it is made into eggs, finished with multiple coats of enamel and imprinted. All the work on this exclusively Maine-made product is done completely at the Maine Wood Concept facility in New Vineyard.

Douglas Fletcher, president of Maine Wood Concepts was honored by Mainebiz as a 2013 Next List honoree.

About the event

The official 2019 White House eggs feature colors found in the White House state rooms and gardens.

The White House Easter Egg Roll is one of the oldest annual events in White House history, dating back to 1878 when President Rutherford B. Hayes opened the grounds to children on Easter Monday. Among the many White House Easter Egg Roll traditions, wooden Easter eggs have become the official keepsake.

The official 2019 White House eggs are inspired by the rich colors found in the White House State Rooms and gardens: The Green Room, the Blue Room, the Red Room, the Vermeil Room and the Rose Garden.

The nonprofit organization White House Historical Association was founded in 1961 to enhance public appreciation of the White House executive mansion.
