‘Modern Zen’ restaurant opens in York
Restaurateur Michael Fennelly and his partner Steve Couch have opened a modern Zen cuisine restaurant, the Wabe Café, in York.
“Small speakeasy-type restaurants are popular right now, and this seemed like a very good venue for that the happen,” Fennelly told seacoastonline.com. The partners also operate Wabitruck, a food truck, at the York Gateway Farmers’ Market every Saturday.
According to the café’s website, Fennelly uses organic and local ingredients for a made-by-hand menu, using their own recipes for items like homemade sauces and rubs, pasta and gyoza, or Japanese wrappers.
