New hires

Maine Financial Group, an affiliate of Katahdin Trust in Houlton, hired Blake Hamel as a commercial services officer in Scarborough. Blake was previously a staff accountant at Androscoggin Bank.

The John T. Gorman Foundation in Portland hired Andrew Colvin as communications director, Alexis Mann as program associate and Yvonne Dorrington as administration associate. Colvin was previously deputy communications director in the office of U.S. Rep. Chellie Pingree, Mann was a senior research associate at the Institute on Assets and Social Policy at the Heller School for Public Policy and Management at Brandeis University and Dorrington was with the National Conference of Bar Examiners.

Bangor Savings Bank hired Josh Precourt as vice president and relationship manager in Portland, Tom Bossie as mortgage loan officer in Cornish and Stephen Jordan as a regional sales manager in Portland.

Maine Optometry hired Victoria Gagnon and Stephen Arsenault as practicing medical optometrists at its new location at 240 Main St. in Saco.

Rudman Winchell, a law firm in Bangor, hired Paul Brown as a member of the firm’s corporate, business and real estate law practice.

Stroudwater Associates, a national health care consulting firm in Portland, hired Zachary Boser as consultant. Boser was director of finance at Cuba Memorial Hospital in Cuba, N.Y.

Promotions

Maine Community Foundation in Ellsworth promoted Andrea Nemitz to communications and marketing director.

Stroudwater Associates, a national health care consulting firm in Portland, promoted Opal Greenway and Jonathan Pantenburg to principal. Greenway and Pantenburg were previously both senior consultants.

Albin, Randall & Bennett, an accounting firm in Portland, is pleased to announce several promotions. Karla Brannen has been promoted to senior tax manager. Alyssa Hemingway has been promoted to senior manager. Matthew Marcoullier has been promoted to manager. Sarah Balaban-Garber, Matthew Brand and Benjamin Lipton have been promoted to senior accountant. Nicholas Lagoditz and Dalton Meyers have been promoted to tax senior accountant, and Jennifer Lemay and Brittany Seekins have been promoted to assistant senior accountant.

Camden National Bank promoted Christopher Rugullies to senior vice president, commercial banking officer.

University Credit Union in Orono promoted Amanda Allen to branch manager at 15 Main St. in Orono. Allen was previously assistant branch manager at the branch.

Sappi Ltd., a global leader in dissolving wood pulp as well as graphic, packaging and speciality papers, promoted Michael Haws to president and CEO of Sappi North America, effective Oct. 1. Haws joined the company in 2012 as managing director of the Somerset Mill in Skowhegan before being promoted to vice president manufacturing in October 2015 with responsibility for the Somerset and Westbrook mills as well as the Cloquet Mills, Minn., mill and Allentown, Pa., sheeting facility. He also oversees safety, research and development and customer care.

Appointments

Maine Community Foundation in Ellsworth elected Brian Bernatchez, Brooke Parish and Tihtiyas Sabattus to its board of directors. Bernatchez is the founder and managing principal of Golden Pond Wealth Management in Waterville, Parish is head of U.S. operations at G Squared Capital LLP and Sabbatus is a citizen of the Passamaquoddy Tribe of Maine and director of the Passamaquoddy Health Center at Indian Township.

The Association for Consulting Expertise in Portland elected Tanya Bentley Griffeth as treasurer and Felicia Garant as secretary and added Raija Suomela and Malcolm Poole to its board of directors.

Androscoggin Home Healthcare and Hospice in Lewiston added Phillip Crowell Jr. and James Joseph to its board of directors. Crowell is the assistant city manager of the city of Auburn while Joseph is a retired internist.

The International Association of Maritime and Port Executives in South Portland elected Chris Green and Glen Lynch to its board of directors and Capt. Kevin Kiefer to its board of advisors. Green is owner and president of Mechanical Services Inc., Maine Controls and Inlution; Lynch is president and CEO of the GAL Aerospace Group of Cos. in Montreal, Quebec; and Kiefer recently retired from the U.S. Coast Guard.

The Maine Real Estate & Development Association in Portland elected Matthew Pitzer to its board of directors. Pitzer is a practice leader at CHA Architecture in Portland.

Kennebec Savings Bank added Amy Tardiff to its board of directors. Tardiff is vice president and general counsel at her family owned commercial printing company, J.S. McCarthy Printers.

Northern Light Health elected Barry McCrum to a third and final year term as board chair while Kathy Corey was elected vice chair. In addition, John Ryan, David Ahola and Jay Reynolds were added to the board of directors. Ryan is general counsel and corporate secretary to The Jackson Laboratory, Ahola is a board-certified radiologist with Spectrum Health Care Partners in Bangor and Reynolds is vice president and senior physician executive at Northern Light AR Gould Hospital.

Achievements

Stroudwater Associates, a national health care consulting firm in Portland, said Jeffrey Sommer, the firm’s managing director, accepted the “Patriot Award” from the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve, a U.S. Department of Defense program. The award was in recognition of the firm’s support of Lan Mai Nguyen, a company consultant based in Atlanta who recently received her commission as a second lieutenant in the U.S. Army.

Katahdin Trust in Houlton honored Joe Clukey, vice president, retail services officer in Presque Isle, with its “Top of the Mountain Commitment to Community Award” for volunteering more than 100 hours to local organizations.

The Edgecomb Fire Department received the Maine Department of Labor’s “Safety and Health Award for Public Employers” for maintaining an exemplary safety and health management system.

Verrill Dana, a law firm in Portland, was one of only two Maine firms recognized as Band 1 in the field of “Litigation: General Commercial” by London-based Chambers & Partners. In addition, attorneys Michael Fay, Kurt Klebe, Mary McQuillen and Jacqueline Rider were recognized in the publication’s High Net Worth 2019 Guide aimed at the international private wealth market.

Amy Dieterich, an attorney at Skelton Taintor & Abbott in Auburn, presented at a National Business Institute seminar titled Family Law from A to Z. Dieterich lectured on the topic of “Discovery in Divorce,” which included discussion of what type of information is discoverable in family litigation, social media discovery and uncovering hidden assets.

SERVPRO, cleanup and restoration services company in Portland, received a “HERITAGE Silver” award at the company’s 50th annual convention.

Diversified Communications, an international media company in Portland, named Sydney Peterson, senior marketing operations coordinator, as its “Chairpersons 7 Cs Award” winner while Tonya Fowler, sales manager, won the “Governor’s Award.” In addition, Alice Yan, marketing coordinator, Sokvonny Chhouk, graphic designer, and Stephanie Scherer, director – project management and marketing operations, were “5-Year Service Award” winners; Carmella Perrone, sales manager, was a “15-Year Service Award” winner; and Denielle Christensen, event director, was a “20-Year Service Award” winner.

Jane Harrell, president of ‘cause Digital Marketing in Biddeford was awarded the “Young Professional of the Year Award” by PROPEL.

Geiger, a promotional products distributor in Lewiston, named Amber Roy, Chris Gagne and Scott Stowe were named “Geiger Star Awards” winners. Roy is a promotional products expert lead, Gagne is a data analyst and Stowe is a web support technician.

Woodard & Curran, an integrated engineering, science and operations company, in Portland said it was named a “Winning ‘W’ Company” by 2020 Women On Boards for the representation of women on its corporate board.
