New hires

Northeast Bank in Lewiston hired Rachel Edwards as banking center manager in Poland. Edwards was previously client service supervisor at Androscoggin Bank in Lewiston.

Golden Pond Wealth Management in Waterville hired Katie Brann as a client service associate. Brann was previously an investor services representative at Stone Coast Fund Services in Portland.

Eastern Maine Development Corp. in Bangor hired Mike Elliott as economic development director for the Katahdin region. Elliott was previously process improvement consultant at Northern Light Health.

Maine Realty Advisors in Portland hired James Steinberg as construction manager. Steinberg is the former owner of JS Construction and ORA Properties.

Androscoggin Bank in Lewiston hired Karen Hayden as executive vice president, chief funding and client relationship officer. Hayden was executive vice president for treasury management, government banking and commercial deposits at People’s United Bank.

OTELCO, a wireline telecommunications company, hired Thomas Conley as a sales account executive in New Gloucester and Gary Moran as a senior voice and data network engineer in Portland.

Clark Insurance in Portland hired Jessica Meierdirk and Benjamin Holden as account managers in its business insurance department, Courtney Rague as an account manager with the employee benefits team and Connor Rague as an account analyst in its personal insurance department

Bridging the Gap, a social services organization in Augusta, hired Nicole Sciascia as operations and service manager to oversee the daily operation of its Addie’s Attic Clothing Bank and Everyday Basic Essentials Hygiene Pantry.

Camden National Bank hired Geoffrey Grayson as senior vice president, retail regional manager for its southern market from York to Bath. Grayson most recently was vice president at Century Bank and Trust in Boston.

Rudman Winchell, a law firm in Bangor, hired Sarah Barr to practice with the Maine Elder Law Firm in the areas of estate planning, long-term care planning and asset protection, guardianship and conservatorship proceedings, estate, trust and probate administration and special needs planning. Barr previously practiced as an appellate litigator in Providence, R.I., representing veterans with disabilities.

The board of trustees of the Susan L. Curtis Foundation in Portland hired Kathryn Pierce as executive director. Pierce most recently was a program officer with the Maine Health Access Foundation.

Southern Maine Agency on Aging in Scarborough hired Megan Walton as CEO, effective August 5. Walton most recently was COO at Amara, a Seattle nonprofit that works with children in foster care and their families.

The Maine Manufacturing Extension Partnership in Augusta hired Charlotte Russell as operations and marketing coordinator. Previously, Russell was merchandising manager for High Mowing Organic Seeds Co. in Wolcott, Vt.

First National Bank and its parent company, First Bancorp in Damariscotta, hired Christopher Shelton as portfolio manager at the bank’s wealth management division, First National Wealth Management. Shelton is based in Ellsworth.

Promotions

OTELCO, a wireline telecommunications company, promoted Jermey Bennett to voice and data network engineer in Bangor.

Clark Insurance in Portland promoted JoAnn Martin to account executive, Carol Sulides-Yerxa to team lead of the small business unit and Dana Hayward to account manager in the personal insurance department.

Geiger, a promotional products distributor in Lewiston, promoted Rachelle Power to vice president corporate programs. Power was previously director of sales, service and marketing. The company also promoted Erika Leary to operations manager, Corey Dill to assistant operations manager and Wayne St. Germain to accounts payable supervisor in Total Care; Dylan Harrington to applications developer II; Kelly Sutton to manager of client services in corporate programs; Gloria Escobar to distribution specialist II; and Crystal Coolong to order verifier supervisor.

Camden National Bank promoted Pamela Kenniston to senior vice president, senior retail loan officer. Kenniston, who started her career with the bank in 1990, was previously vice president, senior retail lender.

The Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife in Augusta promoted Nate Webb to director of its wildlife division. Webb was previously supervisor of the Wildlife Resource Assessment Section in Bangor.

S&B Financial Services, located at Saco & Biddeford Savings Institution, promoted Gary Trempe to assistant vice president. Trempe was previously a financial advisor.

University of Maine System announced that Tex Boggs was promoted to interim president and provost for the University of Maine at Fort Kent while the campus conducts a national search for a new leader. Boggs has 25 years of presidential experience and has been serving as interim provost and vice president for academic affairs at the university since August.

Appointments

The Susan L. Curtis Foundation in Portland elected Matthew Cyr as chair of its board of trustees. Cyr is a LEED AP project manager at Zachau Construction in Freeport.

The Dance Hall in Kittery added Kent Allyn to its board of directors. Allyn is a full-time musician.

Friends of Casco Bay, a conservation organization in South Portland, elected David Kaufman to its board of directors. Kaufman spent 35 years in broadcasting, ending as CEO of the WMTW Broadcast Group.

Achievements

US Harbors named Rockland a runner up in its “Best Harbor in the U.S.,” a crowd-sourced campaign that began in January that asked readers to share their local information and tips to let us know what makes their harbor the best. Padanaram in South Dartmouth, Mass., was the winner.

Midcoast Federal Credit Union in Freeport said it was honored with “Diamond Awards” in two categories by the CUNA Marketing & Business Development Council, a national network comprised of over 1,300 credit union marketing and business development professionals. The credit union won best-of awards in two categories, for logo design and multifaceted campaign, for its PERKS 321 logo and program materials. Both entries represented its credit card 321 Local Rewards program.

PC Construction in Portland received a “Build Maine Award” from the Associated General Contractors of Maine in the building category for its work on a major renovation and expansion project at three school buildings within Regional School Unit 21 in the Kennebunk area.

Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor was included in Forbes magazine’s 2019 list of “Best Midsize Employers.”

Crossroads, an addiction and behavioral health treatment center in Scarborough, said it earned a three-year accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities, the highest accreditation possible.

S&B Financial Services, located at Saco & Biddeford Savings Institution, announced that Lisa Dube earned the Series 6 and Series 63 registrations from the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority. Dube is a registered financial services assistant with the firm.

Emily MacCabe, media and graphics supervisor at the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife, was honored by the Northeast Conservation Information and Education Association as its “Information and Educational Professional of the Year.”

The University of Maine at Augusta architecture program received initial accreditation from the National Architectural Accrediting Board. The university is the only public higher education institution in the Northeast with a professionally accredited five-year bachelor of architecture degree program.

ProsperityME: the Center for Financial Education named Hannaford Supermarkets its “Commitment to Service” award winner and Infinity Federal Credit Union its “Outstanding Community Partner” award winner.

The Residence Inn in Bath said it was named “Hotel of the Year” by Marriott for 2018 and won “The Chairman’s Award” for ranking No. 1 in “intent to return” guest satisfaction surveys in 2018. The ranking was out of 789 Residence Inn properties across the nation.

Allen Insurance and Financial announced that Jane Harford obtained a license to sell property and casualty insurance in Maine. Harford is a member of the support staff at the agency’s Camden office.

Tru by Hilton Portland Airport Area in South Portland was awarded the “Connie Award,” recognizing the hotel as one of Hilton’s best-in-class properties of the past year.

The Maine Real Estate & Development Association selected the top-six real estate developments in Maine in 2018. The top projects included: Anew Development and Westbrook Housing’s Riverview Terrace in Westbrook; Dirigo Capital Advisors’ Ballard Center in Augusta; Paul G. Coulombe’s Boothbay Harbor Country Club in Boothbay Harbor; Colby College’s Bill and Joan Alfond Main Street Commons in Waterville; Developers Collaborative and Sea Coast Management’s The Motherhouse in Portland; and Bateman Partners’ Topsham Care Center in Topsham.

Norway Savings Bank received “2019 Best Wellness Employer Gold Certification” from Wellness Workdays, an organization dedicated to creating and supporting worksite wellness programs that inspire employees to make simple and positive changes to continually improve their health.

Rockland Main Street Inc. was designated as an accredited Main Street America program for meeting performance standards set by the National Main Street Center for the 10th straight year.

United Midcoast Charities in Camden earned a 2019 gold seal of transparency from GuideStar, a leading source of information about nonprofit organizations. The recognition places the agency in the top .05% of nonprofit organizations listed on GuideStar’s website.

Clark Insurance in Portland said Adele Nichols, team lead in its personal insurance department, was named the “2019 Insurance Professional of the Year” by the Insurance Professionals of Greater Portland.
