Pierce Atwood LLP has appointed Christopher Mordas as the firm's next chief operating officer.
Mordas will oversee the firm's finance, information technology, human resources, library and office services teams. He will also work closely with the managing partner on day-to-day direction and long-term strategic planning.
“I’m very excited and fortunate to join Pierce Atwood and follow in the footsteps of Jim Gorman as COO,” said Mordas. “This full-service law firm has a robust 100-plus-year history of success with a tremendously talented team across New England.
"Working alongside Dave Barry, managing partner, and our partner group, we have a tremendous opportunity ahead to build upon that foundation as we adapt to ever-evolving client needs and compete in the New England legal marketplace.”
Mordas has over 25 years of experience guiding professional services firms and other organizations through growth and transformation.
Before joining Pierce Atwood, he was CEO of Boston-based law firm Bernkopf Goodman LLP, where he was responsible for the firm's executive administration. He also served as the business counselor for the firm's executive committee.
"Chris brings an impressive track record of leadership and broad and diverse experience to Pierce Atwood," said David E. Barry, managing partner. "I look forward to partnering with Chris to help drive innovation and operational excellence and to chart a strong and exciting future for the firm."
Mordas earned a J.D. from Roger Williams University School of Law and his bachelor's degree in accounting and finance from Roger Williams University. He is on the board of directors and is treasurer of the Boston chapter of the Association of Legal Administrators.
