Portside’s how-to panel showcases women business owners

Portside Real Estate Group, headquartered in Falmouth, recently brought together panelists to share their stories about starting their businesses, overcoming obstacles and staying true to their values. 

Moderated by Portside’s founder, Dava Davin, the panel discussion in Portsmouth, N.H., had a how-to theme that built on real stories from local entrepreneurs. 

The event showcased four women business owners from New Hampshire and southern Maine.

  • Maggie Sutherland, founder of Seacoast Lately, a lifestyle resource in New Castle, N.H.
  • Amy Dutton, founder and owner of Amy Dutton Home, an exterior, interior and landscape designer in Kittery,
  • Nicole Carrier, co-founder and president of Throwback Brewery in North Hampton, N.H.
  • Lilly Beaulieu Mullen, co-owner of Springer Jewelers, with locations including Portland and Portsmouth

Carrier discussed how Throwback Brewery built a brand around sustainability, inclusivity and local sourcing. Sutherland detailed how she grew Seacoast Lately into a must-read digital guide for Seacoast locals and visitors.

Dutton shared her journey of launching a design studio that blends architecture and interiors, while offering advice for real estate professionals on how to help clients see a home’s full potential. Beaulieu Mullen spoke about the responsibility and pride of leading a fifth-generation jewelry store in downtown Portsmouth, balancing legacy with innovation.
