Sales of single-family homes rise 11% — the good news doesn't stop there

A report released on Friday by The Maine Association of Realtors shows that the state’s real estate market mirrors the national growth of the industry.

The sale of existing single-family homes in the state rose 11% from 2014 to 2015, while the median sale price rose 3.1% during the same time frame.

According to the Association’s report, 15,672 homes were sold in Maine last year at a median price of $180,500.

Existing home sales in December were up 15.6% from a year earlier, while the median sale price fell 2.2% to $177,750, according to the report.

Nationally, real estate sales were up 7.7% for the year and 7.1% in December compared to the same time last year while the median sale price rose to $226,000.
