UMA hires new president

University of Maine System trustees Monday unanimously approved the appointment of Allyson Hughes Handley as the new president of the University of Maine at Augusta.

Handley, 60, currently is the senior adviser for economic initiatives at the Kentucky Council on Postsecondary Education. She will take over for the current president, Richard Randall, on March 1.

Handley will be the first woman to lead UMA as president.
