25-year veteran of Gorham Savings rises to become CFO

Gorham Savings Bank on Monday announced longtime employee Jane Stack as the bank's new chief financial officer as of Jan. 1, reporting to President and CEO Steve deCastro

With around $1.47 billion in assets as of June 30, 2021, Gorham Savings ranked No. 9 on a list of the largest Maine-based banks in the recently published 2022 Mainebiz Book of Lists. That puts Gorham Savings between Norway Savings Bank, at No. 8, and Kennebec Savings Bank, ranked No. 10.

Stack was promoted to CFO from her position as senior vice president, controller, where she oversaw and led the bank's finance, accounting, accounts payable and proof departments. Those departments play an integral role in preparing and managing the bank’s financial statements and budget, as well as monitoring liquidity, Gorham Savings said.

Her career at the bank began in 1996 as a teller in Gorham. She worked her way up through branch administration to the commercial loan division through finance and accounting to senior vice president, controller.

“Jane’s broad experience and knowledge of GSB positions her well for her new responsibilities as our CFO,” deCastro said. “Over her time at the bank, she has willingly taken on new challenges in her accomplished career. I am so pleased to promote her to our senior leadership team.”

Gorham Savings Bank currently has around 200 employees.

Stack holds a B.A. in business administration from Saint Joseph’s College, and Master of Science and Master of Business Administration degrees from Bangor's Husson University, previously known as Husson College.

The Windham resident serves on the board of youth-development organization Girls on the Run and has volunteered at MaineHealth’s COVID-19 vaccination sites.
