Portland-based Allagash Brewing Co. is getting ready to roll out the taps in a new venue next month with the opening of its Scarborough tap room at the Downs mixed-use neighborhood.

Maine's largest brewer, led by founder Rob Tod, aims to open the new tap room on Saturday, Aug. 2,  in a new venue it is calling the Bungalow. It will be located at 10 Market St.

Allagash said the name is a nod to the Scarborough location’s proximity to Maine’s beaches well as well as the company’s vision of becoming a new community gathering hub.

“Above all else, we wanted the space to feel approachable,” said Emily Wallace, hospitality director at Allagash. The name "also reflects this in a way that feels welcoming, but also will be something that we’re planning to deliver on with a stellar guest experience," she added.

Initially, the Bungalow will be staffed by four year-round employees and four seasonal employees to start “and may hire more as we figure out the demand,” Wallace told Mainebz.

While Allagash had originally planned to build a new tasting room on land it purchased at the Downs in 2022 and open in 2024, changing circumstances prompted the company to shift gears and rent space in the new construction at 10 Market St.

The brewer declined to disclose how much it has invested in the new space, which Tod previously said “seems like a better way to move forward with our plans to expand in Scarborough in the immediate term.”

Tod was honored as a Mainebiz Business Leader of the Year in 2025.

Besides beer, the menu will include house-made wine and cider along with lobster rolls and other dishes from the team at Bite Into Maine and Parlor ice cream, a Biddeford-based brand.

The concept, interior and exterior design have been created in conjunction with Mey & Co, a commercial design studio whose portfolio includes Porlland establishments including Mr. Tuna, Orange Bike Brewing and Benny’s.

Opening hours

The Allagash Bungalow will open daily except for Mondays. Opening hours are from noon until 7 p.m. Tuesdays and Wednesday, from noon to 8 p.m. on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays and from noon until 7 p.m. on Sundays.
