Baldacci names three to BEP

Governor John Baldacci yesterday nominated three people to the state Board of Environmental Protection.

Baldacci's appointees include P. Andrews Nixon, chair and CEO of Dead River Co. in Portland, and Lissa Widoff, executive director of the Robert & Patricia Switzer Foundation in Belfast, according to a press release from the governor's office. He also reappointed Donald Guimond, town manager of Fort Kent, to the board.

The BEP, a citizen board created by the Legislature, helps administer and interpret Maine's environmental protection laws. The nominations still need approval from the full Senate and from the Legislature's Joint Standing Committee on Natural Resources, the release said.
