Caribou lures big employer from neighbor

Sitel, a call center that employs about 200 people, is moving its operations to Caribou after working at the Loring Commerce Centre in Limestone for 17 years.

The Bangor Daily News reported that Sitel’s move, expected to happen mid-March, will give the company access to a larger labor market, supporting its expansion plans, though the details of those plans are currently not known.

Carl Flora, president and CEO of the Loring Development Authority, told the newspaper his staff is looking for tenants to fill the 25,000-square-foot vacancy created by Sitel, adding that they are looking for a business that would not compete for Sitel’s workforce. He said the authority has a number of deals in the works.
