Concord Coach expands direct Portland to NYC service

After just five months of launching the initial service offering, Concord Coach Lines has announced that it will begin offering an expanded schedule for its direct Portland-to-New York City route following high customer demand.

Since November, the intercity bus company has been providing a 6:30 a.m. Portland-to-NYC route; the expanded schedule will see the addition of a bus departing the Portland Transportation Center at noon starting April 3. Return trips from the Big Apple will depart at 8:30 a.m. and 2 p.m.

Since launching the initial program, more than 4,000 passengers have traveled aboard Concord’s “executive class” busses that hold 30 passengers, offers wireless Internet and power outlets at each leather seat.

“The response from our customers over these past months has been overwhelming,” Blunt said in a written statement, according to the Portland Press Herald. “But the one thing that we have consistently heard since we announced the new service was the need for more schedule options. We think that by adding a second trip and leaving Portland a little later in the day and an earlier departure from NYC in the morning, we have done just that.”

One-way tickets for the six hour trip cost $69 each and are currently the only direct Portland-to-NYC option aside from flying, with other alternatives making multiple stops along the way and also requiring a transfer in Boston.
