For Wright-Ryan Construction, new office is all about location

Provided by Wright-Ryan Wright-Ryan Construction opened an office in Northeast Harbor to manage its growing roster of Downeast jobs.

Wright-Ryan Construction opened an office on Mount Desert Island that's an indicator of an expanded geographic footprint for the Portland-based builder.

The 3,000-square-foot office in Northeast Harbor was unveiled recently in an event with Herrick & Salsbury Inc. and the Mount Desert Chamber of Commerce.

Wright-Ryan said the office will support a "growing portfolio of high-end residential and commercial projects" on Mount Desert Island and the Downeast region.

Among the projects it is working on:

  • In Ellsworth, Wright-Ryan is the construction manager for Witham Family Hotels’ new Home2 Suites by Hilton in Ellsworth. This 83-suite extended-stay hotel builds on an ongoing partnership that has resulted in multi-phased upgrades to the Bar Harbor Inn and the successful early delivery of Witham’s Kebo Street workforce housing project.
  • In Seal Harbor on MDI, Wright-Ryan is managing construction work at the Land & Garden Preserve. The project entails renovations, additions and new construction of a new storage building, shop and an expanded office. Design was handled by Baird Architects, which has an office on MDI.
  • In Bar Harbor, Wright-Ryan is leading construction of the new Conners Emerson School, which will be 100,000-square-foot and cost $60.4 million.

Portland development

The developer GreenMars reports that Portland Planning Board has given the go-ahead for a development of 150 housing units near the Jetport.

Mainebiz wrote about the Stroudwater Commons proposal last year.

Stroudwater Commons is believed to be the first large-scale project under the LD 2003 law, which supports greater housing density so long as half the units are categorized as affordable.

GreenMars Real Estate is led by Chris Marshall and Nate Green, the team that developed Yarmouth Commons on U.S. Route 1 in Yarmouth and redeveloped three buildings on the campus of Nasson College in Sanford.
