Gorham-based Great Falls Construction has underway in Auburn its first development project in the region with a mixed-use, market rate apartment building at 186 Main St.
The four-story building will have 18 apartments on the three upper floors and two commercial spaces on the ground floor, for a total of 30,000 square feet on a 7,100-square-foot lot.
Julie Curran, managing director at Great Falls, told Mainebiz that one of the commercial spaces could be ideal for a restaurant, as it faces the Androscoggin River behind the building.
“We are currently actively marketing both spaces for tenants,” Curran said.
The apartments will range in size from studios to two bedrooms and the building is projected to be completed this fall.
Great Falls is doing the build. CWS Architects, based in Scarborough, and Sebago Technics, headquartered in South Portland, are also part of the team.
Across the bridge in Lewiston, Great Falls is managing renovations on Place Ste. Marie at 64 and 74 Oxford St. Brooklyn, N.Y.-based Brisa Ventures recently purchased the two brick buildings which had once provided housing for mill workers and were later converted into affordable apartments.
