Maine State Credit Union has hired Paul Doody as senior vice president of commercial banking.
With nearly 40 years of banking experience, including over 30 years of serving businesses in Waldo County, in this role, Doody will focus on business development and commercial lending. He will also help with the establishment of a planned Belfast branch, which will open next year.
“His leadership in commercial banking, combined with his strong relationships in Knox and Waldo Counties, will help us strengthen business development, expand our presence in Belfast and beyond," said Stephen Wallace, president and CEO of Maine State Credit Union.
Doody brings several years of experience in branch management, regional leadership and commercial lending. He previously held the position of senior vice president and commercial lending officer at Camden National Bank.
“Maine State Credit Union is known as one of the best and fastest growing in the state," said Doody. "Given the new office's construction in Belfast and my experience in this market, it seemed a win-win situation for both parties. I am excited to be part of an organization that is committed to its members, its employees and to Maine communities.”
Doody serves as treasurer and board member of the Northport Golf Club. He has also held leadership roles as president of the Belfast Rotary Club, president of the Belfast Area Chamber of Commerce, treasurer and board member of the Waldo County YMCA and board member and committee member of the Belfast Curling Club.
Maine State Credit Union, headquartered in Augusta, has more than $750 million in assets and 155 employees. The credit union was founded in 1935 inside the Maine State House as a savings institution for state employees, and today it has more than 40,000 members.
It ranks No. 2 among the largest Maine-based credit unions, according to the 2025 Mainebiz Book of Lists. The ranking is based on the credit union's assets as of Sept. 30, 2024.
