Pineland Farms ups commissary distribution
New Gloucester-based Pineland Farms has expanded distribution of its Maine cheese to nine more military commissaries across the country.
The company began distribution to 24 commissaries in the Northeast last year, according to a press release. The trial led to the national distribution deal the company announced this week.
The farm credited Sen. Susan Collins with suggesting the company seek contracting opportunities with the federal government and that such contracts can increase a company's visibility, according to the release.
In August, the Maine creamery landed a deal with the country's largest grocery chain store, Kroger, to sell its cheeses.
