Pols report campaign fundraising for upcoming elections

The reelection campaign of Democratic Gov. Janet Mill said Friday it has raised $3.2 million to date, including $516,941 in the pre-primary fundraising period between April 27 and May 31. The campaign has $2.3 million cash on hand. During this reporting period, the campaign received 4,082 contributions from 3,447 donors.

“Our fundraising success demonstrates that Maine people believe in Janet and her strong leadership,” said Alexandra Raposo, campaign manager for the Janet Mills for Governor Campaign, in a news release.

“Janet has delivered one of the strongest relief proposals in the nation to help Maine people deal with rising costs. She has led Maine to a strong economic recovery, with our economy recovering all the jobs lost during the pandemic and the unemployment rate dropping to below the New England and U.S. averages.”

The gubernatorial campaign of Paul R. LePage, a Republican who served two terms as Maine governor before Mill’s current term began in 2020, has raised $1.49 million, according to the state. The total includes $124,013 during the most recent filing period. The campaign has $685,421 cash on hand.

Of course the Republican legislator that originally came up with the idea to give money back to taxpayers is not getting his due credit, it is going to Mills??? Shocking! The surplus in Maine is not due to her great administrative success but instead from millions and millions being pumped into the state by the Federal government. If she could have had her way she would have spent it all. The amount of economic recovery needed wouldn't have been as much if she hadn't closed the state down for so long with draconian measures!
