Senator kills York Co. industrial park bill

A Kittery Senator last week killed a bill aiming to create a regional industrial park in southern York County.

Sen. Peter Bowman on Tuesday withdrew the bill he sponsored that would have created a regional authority with the power to develop an industrial park and share its tax revenues between several communities, Seacoastonline.com reported. In a memo, Bowman withdrew his support for the bill, citing a lack of public support and apprehension that the bill would have given the regional authority too much power, the news site reported.

A group of officials from seven communities -- Berwick, North Berwick, South Berwick, Eliot, Kittery, Wells and York -- worked for more than a year to draft the bill.
