Report on Bates Mill 5 released

Lewiston's Bates Mill 5 building will cost the city between $250,000 and $350,000 per year no matter what the city does with it, according to a new report.

A task force studying possible plans for the 8.1-acre site released its final report Friday, having studied options for nine months. Demolishing the building, renovating it or maintaining its current use as a storage facility would cost the city the same amount of money, the report says. Bates Mill No. 5 is the last undeveloped portion of the Bates Mill complex.

The task force will present its report to the Lewiston City Council this Tuesday evening, according to the Sun Journal in Lewiston. Read the entire report here.
