Yelp: Portland No. 1 for local holiday shopping
Portland is the No. 1 city in the country for local holiday shopping, according to an analysis by business reviews website Yelp.
The Bangor Daily News reported that Portland was the only city to have a perfect score in the local shopping category. The city beat out Detroit, New Orleans, Seattle and many others.
Yelp’s analysis looked at cities with a high concentration of local businesses that sell gifts. The scoring was determined by the percentage of locally owned retail businesses in cities with 20 or more businesses, which was then multiplied by the average rating of each business.
