Bangor Savings Bank has been in the mood for expansion over the past couple of years.

In 2022, the bank opened a branch in Boothbay Harbor.

Last year, Bangor Savings added to its New Hampshire footprint with a second full-service branch in Manchester, followed by a branch opening in Bar Harbor.

The bank's parent company, Bangor Bancorp MHC, also partnered with fintech innovations developer PayWith Worldwide Inc. to form IncumbentFI Inc., a joint venture that provides programmable payments technology to bank cardholders.

On Feb. 5, Bangor Savings will open its first Kennebunk branch — its 69th branch location overall and 61st location in Maine.

At 30 Main St. in downtown Kennebunk, the new location is intended to expand the bank’s footprint in the state's southern coastal region, serving year-round and summer customers.

The branch will offer personal and business banking, as well as conveniences including an ATM, coin counter and debit cards printed on-site.

The location is positioned to serve business owners and community members in York County and beyond, Bangor Savings said in a news release.

“As Northern New Englanders have experienced, Kennebunk and the surrounding coastal towns are thriving communities,” said Tricia Duchesneau, the bank’s senior vice president and director of consumer banking.

The branch will be led by Ashley Winslow, a Bangor Savings vice president with nearly a decade of Maine banking experience.

Bangor Savings, founded in 1852, has over $7 billion in assets as of August 2023. Headquartered in Bangor, it has branches in Maine and New Hampshire and business and loan production offices in Maine, New Hampshire and Massachusetts.

Bangor Savings tops the roster of the largest Maine-based banks in the recently published 2024 Mainebiz Book of Lists, and is Maine’s second largest bank by market share, after TD Bank.
