How great is the Maine worker?

Maine employers regularly gush about the qualities they see in their workers -- dedication, ingenuity, tirelessness, enthusiasm -- but are those claims supported by fact?

In the current issue's cover story, Mainebiz Staff Writer Rebecca Goldfine explores the reputation of the state's workforce, and discovers that while the numbers might not show Mainers are necessarily more productive than other workers, they may just have an edge on less measurable, but perhaps just as important, qualities.

This story is the first of a three-part series following up on some of the compelling ideas discussed at the 2007 Mainebiz Symposium, held in October, which focused on pessimism in Maine's business community.
