Portland health clinic scores $680K fed grant

The Portland Community Health Center is set to receive a $680,000 federal grant to expand the primary and mental health care services it offers at its Park Avenue clinic, according to a press release from U.S. Rep. Chellie Pingree.

The clinic, which started as a city-run program in 2009, became an independent nonprofit this year.

The Portland Press Herald reported that the clinic serves around 3,000 patients annually, providing free care to patients who cannot afford it and billing others on a sliding scale.
